My Dolly Week #70: Pushing Yourself!

Rise being a wa lolitaLast Sunday something inside of my head clicked. It is always difficult to pin down the exact moment, when things change. I am constantly thinking about this blog, about the content I post and hope to produce in the future. And with my regular posting schedule I was starting to feel comfortable. This comfortable feeling is dangerous because it also means that you are caught up in a routine that could easily go on forever – and this is not what I want because I want to do and learn so much more! It also dawned on me that this comfortable space was only an illusion because there were certain things at the back of my head, who I did not dare to touch. And still, the more I ignored them, the more my longing to actually face them grew! Continue reading My Dolly Week #70: Pushing Yourself!

My Dolly Week #63: Are you ready for Pullip Kayano?

Marie in her new dress!Welcome back, everybody! This ‘Dolly Week’ is super late because life got in my way big time, but I am having a bit of air now and we have quite the news to discuss! I also wanted to share my Pullip Marie in her summery dress by ‘It’s MY Caprice’ with you! Marie was wearing a long sweater before, but now she is rocking a mini skirt and short sleeves! My (Updated) Blogiversary Dolly Wishlist!

Pullips Elodie Day & MarieI am so excited for this post and have so much to update, since I have decided to only share my dolly wishlist every six months! This way, it is way easier for me to evaluate, which girls I actually want to move in with me (after the first phase of infatuation) and to keep track with the overall number of my cuties. This is also the first post, where I am going to talk about different types of dolls I really like and about my current collection, for example about which changes some girls might go through in the future. Let’s start! Continue reading My (Updated) Blogiversary Dolly Wishlist!

It’s Been A Year: Komonogatari’s First Blogiversary!

Exactly one year ago, my review of Pullip Optical Alice, who I got one day prior brand new from Japan, went online. She was the perfect reason to finally create a blog, an idea, which had been dancing in my head for months and went in lieu with dozens hours of brainstorming because I did not want to start under a blog name or social media handles, which I would have want to change after a short while. And there was one more thing: I was scared! Scared of my own writing and photographing skills and even more scared of not finding anybody to share my passions with! Today I consider February 23rd, 2017 as one of the best days of my life because it was the start of me, putting myself out there. I am a strong believer that the more open I am about my passions and feelings here, the more I hope to deliver the message that it is okay to be passionate about the things you are passionate about!

So many cuties! Continue reading It’s Been A Year: Komonogatari’s First Blogiversary!

Re-ment: Sumikko Gurashi ‘Sumikko Patisserie’

Rise is Sailor Strawberry and likes strawberries!Sumikko PatisserieOops, I did it again: I got a Re-ment set, got lost in the miniature world for Pullips, Pullips…I am sorry, but it had to get out someday that I was a big Britney fan growing up and that I am still singing this song everytime I get something, I really like! πŸ˜€ Sumikko Gurashi are my favourite characters for so-called ‘character goods’ from Japan because they are simply too cute. If you are not familiar with the characters and their names yet, don’t worry: I emphasized them in the text, so you won’t get confused in the Sumikko universe too much. I hope, you will enjoy this post full of sweets with sweet faces on them! Continue reading Re-ment: Sumikko Gurashi ‘Sumikko Patisserie’

My Dolly Week #38: Dolly Denim and Obitsus!

Welcome to another Dolly Week on my blog! This week has been super duper interesting, when it comes to new releases, but I also finally started some projects to rebodyΒ  my older Pullip girls, since I brought home four obitsus in total from Japan.

Natalia, my Pullip BlancheThe first girl I rebodied was Natalia, my Pullip Blanche. Although I do not massively hate the Pullip type-3 bodies, they do tend to make your Pullips quite stiff looking and do not allow them to pose properly. Especially the type-3 neck was bugging me, since it looks way too unnatural. Natalia always seemed to stick her head way forward in comparison to her type-4 and obitsu bodied sisters. I plan to do a more detailed post about my girls’ different body types, but for Natalia I decided on a flesh toned 27 cm obitsu, since I went for the same height as Mayu and Ruri, which I had misjudged in the past as 24cm tall. In the future, I do plan to get some of the new 24cm obitsus, but since my type-3 girls seem more grown-up anyway, they are all going to be taller than that. May I just say that I love Natalia’s new look?! I also dressed her up in the coolest dolly ensemble from Atelier Milabrocc ever! Those perfect embroidered and distressed Mom jeans are going to be a staple in my dolly wardrobe for years!

Minnie, Iris Mint by Charon DollsMinnie, Iris Mint by Charon DollsSpeaking of denim from Atelier Milabrocc, before she released the set with the jeans and the equally stylish sweater, she made the most adorable shorts in the same style. My Pullip wardrobe is full of dresses and skirts, lilacs and pinks, which I both wanted to mix up a bit (nevermind, the pink embroideries on the denim…they don’t count!). Minnie, my Charon Dolls’ custom Pullip, was the first one to try on those glorious shorts in combination with a cropped lilac knit sweater-from Atelier Milabrocc as well. Can you tell that I like her work?! πŸ˜€ Minnie looks a bit rockabilly and like a cool pastel chick in general. I am super pleased-she needs to wear the most out of this outfit before it gets too cold! Continue reading My Dolly Week #38: Dolly Denim and Obitsus!

My Dolly Week #33: Names and Harmonia Bloom!

Remember last week, when I was talking about how much I love October? I still love it, but this post is probably on the edge of delirious, since I caught a cold, when I was out watching foliage during my work break. πŸ˜€ But now let’s talk about dolls and not the fact that I need to introduce more vitamins to my diet!

Pullip MarieWhen it comes to names, I actually enjoy changing my dolls’ names to add more to their personality and to give myself more inspiration, when it comes to styling and photography. Pullip Marie though, even after I customized her, still perfectly feels like a Marie. I was debating several other names, but Marie is Marie and that’s that! πŸ˜€ She is such a cool girl, I was really surprised, how much she is able to pull off black clothes.

Ki-chan being cute.Naming the Pullips from the Le Petit Prince series was so difficult! If a doll is already called ‘The Fox‘ and ‘The Rose‘ your creativity gets killed and so Pullip The Rose is now called Bara, which is the Japanese word for rose and short version for the Czech name Barbora. Pullip The Fox is Ki-chan, which is short for kitsune, Japanese for fox. I really hope that I will not run out of ideas soon. I also cannot imagine calling a Pullip Shion, like Groove’s upcoming realease, since Shion is the name of an anime figure out of a horror story called Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. Ugh, having an actual Shion in my dolly family would probably drive me just as crazy as the Shion in the anime! >< Creepy stuff, but perfect for Halloween and recommended by yours truly-but honestly, I would never watch it again! Once is more than enough!

Have you heard about Harmonia Bloom, the new collections of dolls, which is going to be released by Good Smile Company, home of the Nendoroids, early next year?! I have kind of mixed feelings, but am kind of intrigued by the blonde cutie above, whose expression speaks most to me. The reason, why I am suddenly writing about them, is the fact that they got featured quite a bit in my Twitter feed, since there is an article in the newest issue of Dollybird, which hopefully means that we will be getting more information about their release soon.

Now I would like to know, if you name your dolls and what do you think about the Harmonia Bloom line! Are you excited or is another collection more up your alley?

Thank you so much for reading!

‘Neko no Kaburimono’: The most perfect Gashapon for your Dolls!

My Halloween hats from the gashapon machine!‘Neko no Kaburimono’ from Kitan Club are little hats for your cats that you can get from gasha or capsule toy machines. Unfortunately, I have no patient kitty cat on hand to tell you, how those hats fulfill their purpose on a living and breathing cutie, but when the right kind of gashapon machines finally crossed my path, I initially had to get some for my dolly collection. These hats have actually been around for quite a while, but when I was visiting Tokyo, there were several series available, which I am going to show you right now!

The fit from the sides!Detail of the ghost! The hats from above! The pumpkin on my Neo-Blythe!The machine, where the hats came from! The newest series is a set out of four different Halloween themed designs, which I was so extremely happy about, since it is my favorite holiday! πŸ˜€ I managed to get three different hats for 500 Yen each (sadly, I missed out on the bat) and I was super suprised how detailed each of them is! The hats from this series are a little big on a Pullip and a little snug on a Blythe, but still very adorable on both! The Halloween hats do come with more fabric than the hats from other series, which covers the neck and upper part of the shoulder area. They are all soft and plushy. My ghost hat still looks a bit wonky, since it came out of the capsule, but I love it nonetheless and cannot decide on a favorite! My Dolly Week #31: Reunited with Munchkins!

Finally being on time, I can share how good it feels to be surounded by my darling dollies again! Even though I was having so, so much fun, I could not be happier to be reunited with all of my munchkins and introduce them to Poppy and Sayaka. And I have to admit: It is a little overwhelming to have so many opportunities to take pictures again, even though the big window in our hotel was awesome!

Pullip Marie with the White Rabbit.I really hope that you will enjoy my shopping guide, which went online early today and which I was looking forward to writing in months! πŸ™‚ I am so happy to have finished this major passion project of mine! There will be more Japan posts, since I want to write them, while everything is still fresh in my memory!

Promo picture of the Revolutionary Girl Utena Pullips.Pullip AnthyPullip UtenaWhich brings me to the load of new announcements that I have and want to write about! The most exciting one is definitely how beautiful Groove’s upcoming Pullips in collaboration with anime series Revolutionary Girl Utena are! I need to catch up the series to have an excuse for acquiring these beauties! πŸ˜‰ I really love that Groove did their eye makeup in a typical anime-style, as they did with the Rose of Versailles and Madoka Magica dolls! They will be released in December, which means that they will probably be the last Pullip releases of 2017. Time flies crazily fast! Continue reading My Dolly Week #31: Reunited with Munchkins!
