My Thoughts On: Pullip Funassyi Classical Lolita Version for May 2019 | Japan Exclusive

Pullip Funassyi Classical Lolita VersionPullip Funassyi Classical Lolita VersionI honestly have no idea, where to start. So just let me say that there is nothing, absolutely nothing about this Pullip that I don’t like! Even though I am normally super quick to jump on any kind of bandwagon that revolves around Japanese characters or mascots, yellow pear and Chiba’s representative mascot Funassyi never really tickled my fancy so much that I was okay with forking over some Yen – until now! Imagine my sorrow, when my dreams were a little crushed, when I read that this Pullip is only being promoted as a Japan exclusive release. (Although we must not forget that 2016’s Japan exclusive ‘Le Petit Prince‘ collaboration with Alice & The Pirates also found their way into international online shops…there is still hope and I am not ready to give up just yet!)

Pullip Funassyi Classical Lolita VersionWhy I like this Pullip so much, is probably because everything just seems so right: Her classical lolita outfit looks beautifully designed and I am in love with her bonnet! The dress’ overall print has the perfect mixture of pink roses and Funassyi’s persona and it makes me want to sit her right next to my Pullip Cinnamoroll, so that even more Japanese pop culture is united in my apartment.

Pullip Funassyi Classical Lolita VersionApart from the awesome outfit, the Pullip herself (who is in desperate need of a better name or maybe there are going to be more versions of Pullip Funassyi) has a stunning face up. In my opinion dark eyechips like hers always look very innocent and while looking very closely at the promotional pictures, I discovered her amazing indigo blue eyeliner on her upper lash line. It even seems like there is some yellow eyeliner in her crease. The rest of her make up looks very fresh with rosy pink cheeks and lips.

Pullip Funassyi Classical Lolita VersionHer wig is a light sunny blonde with very loose curls that still allow you to put her hair up into pig tails without ruining them. I kind of prefer the pig tails because they suit her theme so well.

Pullip Funassyi Classical Lolita VersionSo far you can only pre-order Pullip Funassyi directly in the character’s own stores all over Japan or in Japanese online stores. Her price is a little more expensive than regular Pullip releases. She is priced at 27 400 Yen, which are about 220€.

Pullip Funassyi Classical Lolita VersionNow all that we can do is wait. But I really like the many different directions that Pullip is going so far in 2019! Are you hoping for an international release too? Please, let me know your thoughts!

Thank you so much for reading!

  1. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! She’s a very, very cute girl, and I, too, hope she’ll be available internationally at some point!

Btw, what are your thoughts on Pullip Yuhwa? I was excited when she was announced. Those lips! Dress-wise, I think she’s a great match with Kore!

    1. Hi~! πŸ’•

I was wondering, if you would like her too! 😊

Pullip Yuhwa has me going back and forth to be honest. I will write a blog post dedicated to her that I will hopefully publish today! But you are absolutely right; she would look A-M-A-Z-I-N-G next to Kore! 😍

Have a lovely week! πŸ’• Theri

I think she is a cute Pullip doll, the Lolita outfit and innocent face up really draws attention. But I think her release is really, really late….here in Japan Funassyis popularity has already faded out for some time. I am actually amazed that Groove will be releasing this collab doll! I think the only “yuru kyara”(regional mascot character) that still has popularity is Kumamon.

And her price tag is overwhelming ( I guess that also goes for the releases of the last 2 years)…for a doll that doesn’t look that special. I would rather buy a Baby the Stars Shine Bright or Angelique Pretty collab which I’m sure will be a quality Lolita doll.

But the good news is if she does not sell here in Japan , then this doll will certainly find its way in the international market. If that happens you will certainly be able to get her. Good luck!

    1. Hi Joanna,

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and I completely share your surprise about the collaboration between Pullip and Funassyi. But I also believe that this doll could spike more interest for the mascot, since this newly announced girl is so sweet! 😊

I love Kumamon too: I actually saw him dancing at an event in Hiroshima-I need to edit the vlog soon! πŸ˜‰

Hopefully there will be more lolita fashion releases in the future. My biggest wish is a comeback of the Angelic Pretty print dresses. I prefer those to rococo-inspired designs. Do you have many Angelic and BTSSB Pullips in your collection?

Have a lovely week! πŸ’• Theri
