My Dolly Week #15: Tired, but optimistic!

Welcome to my 15th post of My Dolly Week! Last week was pretty busy and still I get the feeling that I did not get enough done. I got to meet my best friends and celebrated the seventh anniversary with my fiancé. I am pretty tired and the heat outside is not exactly helping, so this is going to be a pretty rambly post!

Pullip KühnFrom a dolly perspective, I was mostly thankful for all the beautiful dolls I have collected so far. A very special doll is Pullip Kühn. I still have to write up a review about her and so I colorfasted her stock and displayed her in it since then. Although her stock outfit is unique, original and high quality, there is just so much more to her beautiful face and dark brown wig. Changing things up is fun and this especially applies to the doll hobby. I feel that keeping dolls in their stock and admiring them is fine, but now that I actually interact more with my collection to find out, what suits each girl individually, it is much more fulfilling!

Pullip Ruri from Poison GirlIt is still surreal for me to see Ruri in my collection. She makes me so happy and last week she got her first sets of clothes. I am so looking forward to her pair of shoes and hope they will fit her feet. 😀 I will keep you updated, when everything is here in form of a big photo shoot. It’s going to be a lot of fun!

When it comes to using my lightbox, I am still ambivalent. The lighting is great, but I am struggling a bit with the way the backgrounds look. It feels like everythings needs more character. It would be super helpful to get some feedback; what do you guys think of the picture of Elodie above?!

From the release side of things, there might be a new Groove Disney Collection doll on the way. This time we should get a Belle from The Beauty & the Beast, it gets mentioned in this article. Is it, what I wanted? Not exactly, since I wanted an original release and do not know, what’s going on with Groove in general. Still, I hope that we are getting to see a beautiful doll, since it has been too long and uncharacteristic for a company that produced 27 Pullips last year.

Please tell me your thoughts! What do you think is going on?

Thank you so much for reading!

  1. I can’t wait to see Ruri’s photo shoot! She’s so beautiful…

Elodie looks great in her photo. I have such a hard time taking photos. I need to be creative like you! (And her outfit is stunning!)

I have to say… I’m not crazy about the Disney Pullip dolls. I think you and I are on the same page! (Although belle would be the one doll I might get…) Where are the new releases? I wonder if they are going through a change in manufacturing? I will have to content myself with custom Pullips!

    1. Yay, Ruri thanks you for your interest! We are still waiting for her shoes, but hopefully they will be worth the wait! 😉
Thank you so much for your compliment! I was not having the best day and you managed to brighten it! <3

I know! The whole Groove thing is so strange and it kind of feels touchy because even though there are people, who are asking themselves, what is going on, there never really seems to be any plausible answers. I am also not terribly crazy about the Disney series. I pray that Belle will be a beautiful doll (I love her character) because I am feeling that Cinderella's face up was missing a certain finesse that I love so much about the majority of Pullip dolls. The face up is by far the most important part of a doll and there are so many artistic people out there that do a wonderful job, so it's only fair that you are turning to custom Pullips!

Groove Inc. has a new official LINE account. I still have to download the app and confirm it myself for my next Sunday post, but apparently there will be a collaboration with another Japanese fashion brand. Hopefully it will bring them back into releasing new Pullips. It has been quite a strange year until now. ><
