Review: Pullip Creator’s Label Galene

Pullip Creator's Label Galene
Pullip Creator’s Label Galene is a creation from mitsubachi@BabyBee and Silver Butterfly.

Pullip Galene is a Creator’s Label release from 2012. Mitsubachi@BabyBee created her face-up and Silver Butterfly her stock-outfit. The meaning behing her name is galena/blue lead, which explains the soft colors of Galene’s overall look. Out of all the Pullip that were sold-out, when I finally started collecting, Galene initially wandered on top of my list of grails. I missed out on her at least a few times, when I finally saw that the price of a listing on ebay had been significantly reduced. And this is how a brand-new Pullip Galene found her way into my collection. Continue reading Review: Pullip Creator’s Label Galene

My Dolly Week #4

Optical Alice can finally wear her head bow!
Optical Alice can finally wear her head bow!

Another Sunday and time for another Dolly Week, where I talk about all the doll- and sometimes toy-related things I did in the last week. First of all: The secret to Optical Alice‘s head bow has finally been lifted thanks to Angela fom Omocha Crush’s review on YouTube. Finally I was able to clip it on to her head, where it will stay for a long time now because you have to use a lot of pressure against her forehead, which was a pain mentally. Why would you want to use pressure with an object out of metal against your doll’s forehead?! I am not the biggest fan. At least it looks cute! Continue reading My Dolly Week #4

Review: Pullip Classical Alice

Pullip Classical Alice
Pullip Classical Alice at her recent tea party! Would you like to join her?

What Pullip was the first you ever set eyes on? Mine was Classical Alice. I remember her from a tiny stock-photo on Amazon.co.jp, popping up in my recommendations. I did not know what a Pullip was back then, but I thought that she was the most incredibly beautiful doll I ever saw. (Imagine me, when I found out that Pullips can move their eyes side to side. What a revelation of endless possibilities!) It was during a time, when I had just stopped collecting Monster High dolls because the new releases weren’t my cup of tea anymore and there was also self-induced pressure to grow up. (Because all of those collectibles out there are for children-pure logic!) So I kept Classical Alice on my wishlist for several years and silently watched Groove release the Sailor Moon Series, while denying myself the fact how desperately I wanted to get into Pullip-collecting. Review: Pullip Creator’s Label My Melody HEN-NAKO Ver.

Pullip Creator's Label My Melody HEN-NAKO
Pullip Creator’s Label My Melody HEN-NAKO

Pullip My Melody HEN-NAKO was the first Pullip release in 2016. She came out in January as a new Creator’s Label doll and a collaboration with Sanrio, who is mostly known for characters like Hello Kitty, My Melody, Cinnamoroll, etc. In 2007 there even was a Pullip Hello Kitty and in 2008 the original Pullip My Melody released, but this time Groove asked well-known creator mitsubachi@BabyBee (who also worked on Pullips Seila, Galene, Kühn, Laura and Alura) to reinterpret My Melody’s character in her own way in 2016. This My Melody also wears the name HEN-NAKO, which is Japanese for “strange child”. HEN-NAKO is a character that mitsubachi@BabyBee created herself and in an awesome interview with The Dolly Insider, she mentions that she was inspired by HEN-NAKO’s and My Melody’s similarities to design My Melody HEN-NAKO Ver., who despite her quite unusual features has gotten hard to find as of the writing of this post. My Dolly Week #3

Another week has past and I welcome you to the third post of my weekly segment, where I like to ramble on about all dolly-related things. This week I wrote reviews about Ufo A Go-Go, my first Neo-Blythe ever, and Pullip Marie, the latest collaboration with Angelic Pretty.

Review: Pullip Marie by Angelic Pretty

Pullip Marie by Angelic Pretty
Pullip Marie is a collaboration with Japanese label Angelic Pretty!

Pullip Marie is a collaboration doll with Japanese lolita fashion brand Angelic Pretty to celebrate the label’s 15th anniversary. For Pullip it is the third release with Angelic Pretty, Pullip Sfoglia being the first in 2009 and Pullip Prupate the second in 2011. Marie was released in Japan in September 2016 and is the princess in my collection. Continue reading Review: Pullip Marie by Angelic Pretty

My Dolly Week #2

Pullip Galene
Pullip Galene, my dream Pullip!

Welcome back to the second round of my segment, where I like to write about all doll-related things that I did or influenced me in the past seven days!

This week all I wanted to do was write about and take pictures of my dolls and so I was able to post reviews about Pullip Lupinus and Pullip Cheshire Cat in Steampunk World. I had a lot of fun and just like last week, it felt like I was getting closer to my collection. Basically, I had the sensation you get, when you do the things you love. Review: Pullip Cheshire Cat in Steampunk World

Pullip Cheshire Cat in Steampunk World
Pullip Cheshire Cat in Steampunk World

Pullip Cheshire Cat in Steampunk World wrote Pullip-history. She was the first Pullip with a new eye-mechanism, which allows you to show off her eyeliner, while her eyes are still open. Cheshire Cat was released in Japan in October 2016 and is the last doll in the Alice in Steampunk World series. She was very sought after and really popular from the moment her promo-pictures turned up on the internet, but I have to admit that I did not think that she was for me. And even just now, when I look at her promo-pictures for reference, I get the same feeling of indifference that I had then. Luckily I was able to travel to Japan in December, where I did not only change my mind about Pullip Lupinus, but fell in love with Cheshire Cat and bought her on the first day of my trip. She is a really sweet kitty and is now best friends with my Nana-chan.

Review: Pullip Creator’s Label Lupinus

Creator's Label Pullip Lupinus
Creator’s Label Pullip Lupinus

Pullip Lupinus is (with her counterpart Dal Quince) the latest release in the Groove Inc. Creator’s Label line.  She came out in November and was created by Silver Butterfly, who previously also designed the outfits for Galene and Nana-chan. When she was announced, the number one discussion was about her eyechips, which do not have pupils. I made up my mind about her, after I saw her in person in Akihabara in Tokyo. Her cute face left such a huge impression on me that I ordered her a few weeks later. Continue reading Review: Pullip Creator’s Label Lupinus

My Dolly Week #1

Optical Alice - the newest Pullip
Pullip Optical Alice

This is the first post of what will be a weekly segment about all the doll related things I did in the previous week. I hope you will enjoy it!

First of all: I finally got this blog started with my first post about the newest Groove Inc. release, which is Pullip Optical Alice. She was released on Amazon Japan last Sunday (February 19th) and they shipped her out so quickly that she arrived at my doorstep on Wednesday afternoon. She is so beautiful in person that it was a treat to take lots of pictures of her in her new home. She is a wonderful addition to my collection and I love how the Pullip Alice-dolls complement each other. I might consider buying missing Alices in the future with Romantic Alice and Alice du Jardin Pink on top of my list. Continue reading My Dolly Week #1
