Pokémon Center Plush: Alolan Vulpix Pokémon Doll & Collection

The Pokémon Center plushies from Japan are by far my favorite Pokémon plush releases. The detail that goes into designing most collections is amazing and I am also content with the quality. In general the Pokémon plushies from Japan are much nicer than those you can buy in Europe. Almost every week, sometimes even on several days, are new collections available in the physical Pokémon Centers or online. It can get quite overwhelming, but it helps, when you keep your focus mainly on your favorites.

My newest Alolan Vulpix addition to my collection!
My newest Alolan Vulpix addition to my Pokémon Center-collection! Isn’t it adorable?!

That being said, last year a new Pokémon generation in the form of games Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon was released and with this release a new favorite of mine: Alolan Vulpix, the snow white version of the original red cutiepie-fox! Since then I try to be up to date, when it comes to Alolan Vulpix releases and started a new collection. The latest release is this Pokémon Doll, which reinterprets Pokémon in a cute chibi-form. Review: Pullip Alice du Jardin Mint Ver.

Pullip Alice du Jardin Mint is a release from 2012 and one of the most popular!

The mint version of Pullip Alice du Jardin (the pink Alice du Jardin is the original) is a 2012 release and extremely popular among collectors, which is probably the reason why Groove Inc. is still producing both versions as of this writing. She was my first Pullip and holds a very special place in my heart. I even cried, when she arrived because I was so happy to finally own a Pullip! My Dolly Week #8: Happy Easter!

Happy Easter, everybody and welcome to my eighth Dolly Week, my weekly post in which I like to ramble on about all dolly- and toy-related topics that crossed my way in the past seven days!

I was sick all week and am now so done with being cooped up at home. I just cannot wait to get out and to be able to do other things than sleep and watch anime all day. On a positive note, I also finally created a page for my doll reviews to make this blog more organized. It is going to be constantly updated with the newest reviews. The page is also linked in my side bar! Continue reading My Dolly Week #8: Happy Easter!

My SQ 2016 Madogatari Collection

There are some anime that are able to cut deep into your feelings. One of those anime is Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica from 2011 that made me cry my eyes out for hours after I finished watching it. Even now it makes me sad, when I think about tragic heroines Homura and Madoka. Now what does this series about magical girls has to do with the wildly popular light novel and anime-series Bakemonogatari?! Both are produced by studio Shaft, my favorite animation studio (last season’s 3-gatsu no Lion was amazing as well)!

My SQ Madogatari figure collection!
My SQ Madogatari figures: Shinobu, Hitagi and Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-under-Blade!

Due to the studio’s 40th anniversary, Shaft made a Madogatari exhibition last year, in which they did a mash-up of both anime, which are also their commercially most successful. The figures I own are from a brand called SQ and were prizes in claw-machines in Japanese arcades. I will say it right away: Never have I ever won anything by playing one of those! I am the type that either goes to Akihabara or Nakano Broadway to purchase them directly for 10-15 bucks each. If I tried to win them, I would spend more and still had to go home empty-handed. The next problem was luggage-space and so I had to make the decision of only bringing the Bakemonogatari characters home with me. Basically because they are wearing the fancier costumes. Each figure was also available in a sepia-colored version. Continue reading My SQ 2016 Madogatari Collection

Pullip Chloi is just like her twin Clara a Doll Carnival 2010 limited release. There are 600 Chlois worldwide!
Pullip Chloi is, like her twin Clara, a Doll Carnival 2010 limited release. There are only 600 of her!

Last week I wrote about Groove’s 2010 limited Pullip release Clara and today it is time for her twin sister Chloi. Like Clara, Chloi also had the limited number of 600 pieces and was a special Doll Carnival Pullip. I bought both twins from Mandarake Japan, where rare dolls tend to show up once in a while. Tokyo Disney Sea Mascots Haul 2016

Disney Sea is a wonderful place to find the cutest treasures!
Disney Sea is a wonderful place to find the cutest treasures! Meet Gelatoni, Duffy & Shellie May!
Finally I know the name of this kitten!
Finally I know the name of this kitten!

Last year one of my dreams came true: After wanting to visit a Disney Park for nearly two decades, I finally got to visit Disneyland Tokyo. But there is not only one Disney Park in Tokyo, but also Disney Sea, which is located right next to it. Both visits were absolutely spectacular, but there was something about Disney Sea that I enjoyed a little bit more-not only from an experience-, but also from an exclusive merchandise-perspective. You all have to know that Disney movies are the foundation of my childhood (especially Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Robin Hood and The Lion King), but I am not very savvy when it comes to lesser known characters. Combine this fact with my inner cat lady and now imagine that everywhere in Japan a pistachio-green colored cat appears in form of bag charms or even as a bag itself. I did not know its name, only the horrendous prices for its merchandise on the secondhand-market. 2016 finally made me wiser: It is Gelatoni, the Mediterranean friend of bears Duffy and Shellie May. Altogether they are the exclusive mascots for Tokyo Disney Sea and not to be found in regular Japanese Disney Stores! Continue reading Tokyo Disney Sea Mascots Haul 2016

Review: Pullip Clara Doll Carnival 2010

Pullip Clara is a limited Pullip that was released in 2010.
Pullip Clara is a limited Pullip that was released in 2010. Only 600 Pullip Clara were made!

Pullip Clara is a release from 2010 and a very limited at that. She was especially made for the Doll Carnival as part of a duo with Pullip Chloi, her twin sister. Only 600 dolls of Clara and Chloi were sold each. I was able to acquire the lovely sisters through Mandarake and will post a review on Pullip Chloi next week. Today let’s focus on the pink twin! My Dolly Week #6: Lots of Blythe-Love!

Welcome to my weekly post about all things that relate to dollies!

Neo-Blythe Ufo A Go-Go tried living with the pandas for a week!
Neo-Blythe Ufo A Go-Go tried living with the pandas for a week! Perfect disguise!

This week I fell down the rabbit hole to all things Blythe-related. Last week I already mentioned that I have not been to the physical Junie Moon store in Tokyo yet and now I found out that there is a brand-new store in the Marui Annex building in Shinjuku, where I actually spent some time last year because this department store also contains restaurants and a cinema. The best thing about this store is that it has its own instagram, where you can check out the beautiful interior and cuties on display. I love what they did to Ufo A Go-Go’s hair. I tried to copy it, but I still have a long way to go how to handle my dolls’ hair. In general my Blythe’s hair feels quite different than my Pullips’. More slippery and greasy?! S.H.Figuarts: Sailor Moon Crystal Season III

This Sailor Moon Crystal S.H.Figuarts release came out in January 2017!
This happens, when I go freestyle on a figure: Usagi wants you to rock on!!!

If you are new to the world of S.H.Figuarts just like me, the easiest way to describe them would be high-quality action figures. In the past I was somehow always able to resist them, but when the Sailor Moon Crystal Season III figure was announced in the fall of last year, it all changed. She got pre-ordered and finally arrived in January. Continue reading S.H.Figuarts: Sailor Moon Crystal Season III
