Oh happy day! When I realized that the Pullip year of 2018 would already close in a few weeks with the releases of Pullip ‘The Secret Garden of the White Witch‘ and Pullip ‘Alrescha Pisces‘, I got super curious about what kind of start Pullip would get in 2019. Apparently we are in for a mysterious treat with Pullip Kumiho, who is a very bold dolly, especially considering Grooves more recent releases!
A Kumiho is a mythical creature from Korea, a female fox with nine tails, who seduces men to eat their hearts. There are also equivalents in Japanese and Chinese folklore. I was familiar with this creature before because one of my favourite K-dramas is ‘My Girlfriend is a Gumiho’ starring Shin Mina and Lee Seung Gi. That being said, I absolutely recommend it! π Groove’s Kumiho though seems to be a super fierce fox with very interesting make up, which already makes me think of strong girls of the past like Pullip Aurora or Pullip Mir. I am especially impressed by her eyebrows, which remind me of bushy fox tails themselves! Furthermore, I really like the way Groove is going with their eyechips recently: They almost look like cut glass being arranged in sun-like rays; a detail that I already detected and love on Alrescha Pisces!
Kumiho’s stock wows me because it looks out of really high quality and I am loving her colour theme a lot! Her ears and tails look very fluffy and out of fake fur (it better be, to be honest, but Groove hasn’t used real fur in years and that makes me optimistic). I do am wondering a little bit about the deep purple fabric with hot pink sequins, which of course is a big opposite to the traditional fabric of Kumiho’s kimono, but for some weird reason it works for me. Maybe because it matches her hair?!
Continuing with her wig: She has light lilac hair without any bangs and she has a turquoise strand of hair on her left and a light blue strand on the right side of her head, which I feel is such a cute detail! The little mismatching here and there, makes her just all the more charming for me!
I have mentioned in my video about Pullip Princess Kakyu that I love tassels and Pullip Kumiho will continue this trend! In general, you can see just how nice the fabric of her kimono is! I love the print with the colourful cranes! And so much gold!
A big mystery to me, is how all of her tails are holding their shape, although I guess that they will have wire on the inside! Her back looks so freaking fluffy!
What are thought on this girl? Does she fit into your collection and do you plan to get her? Right now, I am very enthusiastic and want to add her to my display Pullips!
